Alan Jackson is more than a great performer and song writer, he is a great man. He took his time to come back to his hometown and put on a show to raise money for tornado relief. Last I saw the money raised that day was $2 million. That will help alot of families that lost everything.
I wasnt surprised when it was announced he was going to do something to help out. He seems to always come through for people in their darkest hour. I mean he helped this country with a song and performing that night at the CMA awards.
I have always said his songs told different stories of my life. The first time I heard Sissy's Song, I had to pull over. That song made me think of my mom, Rita Smith, who passed away in an auto accident probably 2 miles from Alan's moms. The accident happened right around the time Alan moved from Newnan. Listening to the words to that song I would have sworn he must have heard about my mom and wrote it. I later learned it was for his housekeeper that had suddenly passed. The crazy thing is I am 99% sure Alan and my mom graduated high school together at Newnan High School. A buddy of mine also was in their class and had year books with them shown in the same grade.

First time I saw Alan Jackson in person he was performing in one of the nightclubs at Caesars Lake Tahoe. I cannot remember the year, but when he played "Chasin' That Neon Rainbow, " he sang "Headin' out to Tahoe for a show on Saturday night." We were all hollering in that club! Next two times I saw him, he filled the largest sports arena in Sacramento. Love Alan Jackson!
