I don't think that's what she meant by "dangerous" science. She meant accurate, scientifically established science that can lead to harm. The first thing that comes to mind is the knowledge for creating Sarin gas, for example.

He didn't really answer her question...

He didn't actually address the question.

A disappointing answer as the question was misinterpreted unfortunately. Hope he can address the questions properly in the future.

It feels like bill is not actually reading the questions, but just asks someone for the summary, either that or they edited out the part of the question bill is answering.

"The real problem is the lack of censorship [in news]"
Yeah, I'mma say no to that. Big, fat no.

I think she was talking about something like studying IQ differences between races and whether we should censor the resulting information of said study. it's an ethical question.

Nope, Bill needs to do a take two on this one if he actually wants to answer the question.

do you think mainstream media should he recreated from the ground up to have a non bias view on things? unlike now where almost every news channels were calling trump hitler and didnt look at his reforms or plans

As others have noted, the question was not fully answered. Transparency and the need to know are not mutually required for censorship review.

He answered the bulk of her questions. But the up front question about should harmful discoveries be censored was bypassed because it's ultimately meaningless. Nye is saying scientists censor themselves before being published. If something was potentially dangerous to all mankind, scientists could choose to not publish. He even talks about the military deciding what we get to know. showing that before things even get to the public, there's a list of people in the way.

The questions were definitely answered.

Who is doing quality control on these answers? This is not the first time Bill Nye didn't answer the question. What's the point then?

I don't think he missed the question. He simply addressed the more important points related to information protection and dissemination.

Went on a rant instead of answering her question

She was probably wondering about if stuff like the atomic bomb and similar weapons of mass destruction should or shouldn't be made public to politicians and people with a greed for power, rather than keeping the knowledge to a small internal circle of scientists.
But don't blame Bill, everyone makes misstakes and she could have been a bit clearer when phrasing her question.

Decent answer to a quetion that wasn't asked. C'mon Bill, if you want to talk about an issue, just make a video about it and we'll listen. Don't go all politician on us and answer differing questions with the answers you want to give...

Why hasn't this man received a Nobel prize for his scientific breakthroughs? He is easily one of the most brilliant minds we have ever seen. This is a perfect example of how Dr. Nye can elaborate so concisely on any big scientific question al while delivering a message all can understand. Keep it up Bill!

She meant like "If someone discovers how to make a death laser" how is that information censored so that people don't use it for evil.

I dont think Bill answered the question. Shes not talking about true and false. Shes asking about if certain true discoveries should be made public and who decides that. For instance, detailed instructions on how to build a nuclear bomb should probably be censored.

When she said dangerous i assumed she meant lethal.
