FEMA is a overbloated bureaucracy who cares more about taking care of their own personnel than they are the people in need.
Not only was it illustrated in North Carolina after Helena, but the most egregious example was Lahaina Maui. I was on the ground in Maui four months after that terrible devastating fire that could’ve been easily prevented. The stories I got from the locals and the dismal response by FEMA demonstrated how they should be completely overhauled.
While locals were looking for food, water and shelter after the fire FEMA was staying in five star hotel suites at the Grand Wailea and Kea Lani over an hour away from Lahaina. There were much less expensive hotels and places to stay that would have allowed them to be five minutes away in Kapalua or Kaanapali. Their response was so bad that locals started, depending upon themselves to get the necessary food, water and shelter on their own and they are still today people living in tents on the beach because there is a housing shortage. The nastiest four letter word you can say on the island of Maui is FEMA.

False information, quick fact check. Administrator did not deny that only 9% (1, 217 people) are available. Then she states that including the “full federal family “, “we have 3400 members on the ground” . Do the math and if you think that’s even close to enough. What are you thinking?

The FEMA chief enabled immediate emergency disaster funding to be diverted to non-emergent issues. Then they state the money has run out for hurricane relief. She’s a box-checking, DEI hire who has stated the importance of equity and inclusion in their decision making. You can look up her statements.

Her boss said they don't have $. The reporter said herself that instead of having 25% staff, they are down to 9%. If you are prepared to handle multiple simultaneous disasters, and if funding concerns are misinformation, then why are you down to 9% staffing? I got friends up in the Carolina's and they said there is no help from Biden, Harris or FEMA. What are they doing ? Washington has to stop all this political stuff and help the people.
