This is called hybridization. The progeny of that rice plant (female plant) is called F1 seeds.

It's true, you do learn something new every day.
Not being from a rice growing region, I didn't know there are male and female plants, I thought the self polinated.

It is a cultural method to control leaf folder insect, as these insects do not have legs, they fall in water and die off

I like watching the wind dance across the tall grass and how they wave like at a football game performing the wave. It’s very peaceful to see pollination occurring and knowing that it’s having sex.❤

That's what you have to do when insecticides killed all the natural pollinators! Many places all the bees have been killed years ago!!!

In the same way we grow sunflowers 🌻in India where male sunflower plants are grown seperately and female seperately after 45 days of sowing seeds people collect pollen grains from male flowers using mosquito net by tieing it to a jug by scrubbing it on the male flowers every day almost for 1 month and collected pollen grains are applied on female flowers using a rounded cloth for almost 15 to 20 days for every sunflower female plant day by day and after 1 month of Cross Pollination both male and female sunflowers are harvested where FEMALES ARE USED AS SEEDS FOR GROWING NORMAL SUNFLOWERS CROPS and males are used for normal consumption.
