Track-Kit and Evidence Collection

In 2017, Texas enacted House Bill 281 which mandated a statewide sexual assault kit tracking system. As a result, Track-Kit was established to provide updated information on the location of a sexual assault evidence kit as it moves from the collection facilities, through lab analysis and storage. Austin Police Department Evidence Section explains the movement of evidence kits, when information is updated in the Track-Kit system and how the Evidence Section manages the movements and storage of the evidence.
