The Blue Star ferry ship is struggling at the Tinos port in Greece. The wind, blowing at 55 mph (10 Beaufort), is resisting the ship from docking. At the last moment, the captain made a call that averted a potential accident. Watch the video to find more details.

Because i know the story, this is the blue star Naxos(also i am from Naxos an island in cyclades). The ship arrives at the port of Tinos(another island on cyclades close to Naxos) there strong winds are pushing the ship so hard that it cant turn but he waited for 10 minutes when he managed to stop on the port of Tinos Greek captains are really good on their jobs and believe me it can be really hard ...

He didn't go to the next port, he waited untill the wind went down. Those ferries only have 2 or max 3 ports they go at so they cant go to the next port, or the would've went back were they came from. He waited out the wind and tried it later again

thats tinos island. unfortunately the northern winds create these problems. the port is incomplete and needs a new design.

Whenever you are on your own boat, you got to remember that the surf near the coast will kill you. Shallow water is where the ocean waves will release all their energy, that is a lot, and it's all concentrated near that port entrance. If you can't make it into your port alive, it is better to STAY in deep water. And that is not comfortable. Your friends on board are terrified, they want back to the shore, but you better tell them you want to go back too, but the surf overthere could be game over. Ships do have their limits. Even such large ferries. It's safety first.

Great Captain who does his best to satisfy passengers but recognizes ship limits and moves on.

The word Quay is pronounced Key. It’s not a common word in the US. So Americans may not know how it’s pronounced. The sea is ah-gee-en when pronounced correctly by an American.

Good old Blue Star Naxos at Tinos... This is a very powerful ship and it's really maneuverable... But still it wasn't enough to beat nature...

These Greek harbors have a ridiculous layout. These big ferries only put the stern against the dock and gains very little stability and safety. Most other ferry harbors have got a pier where the whole side of the ferry can tie onto, and a ramp behind the ferry for loading and unloading cars. This way the ferry can stay safely at the dock.
