I can't really argue against any of those players in the Top 10. Mazzola (maybe even both of them), Rossi, Scirea and Totti deserve to be mentioned though, especially Sandro Mazzola.

Paolo Rossi R.I.P was the best ever for 1982 Mundial !!!!

That is a great list. Of course Totti is another candidate, then Rossi and Cannavaro too.

It's an impossible list because of how many legends Italy has had in football, but to put in Pirlo and Del Piero while leaving Totti out is insane! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Probably? The Italian Serie A wasn’t just the best league between the mid-1980s and the early 2000s, it was the best league in history, period

I'm 65 and I've seen a lot of great players. I can say Gaetano Scirea is certainly missing from this list. As a "libero" he received only one yellow card in his entire career, never a red one - he simply did not need to commit a foul to stop the opponent. World Champion in 1982.

2 of the top 3, Del Piero and Baggio, both had to reinvent their game very early in their professional careers because of injury. Got to wonder what might have been if they didn't have to make these adjustments.
Credit to them that they were still great players anyway

Hard to argue against any of the players you listed. Personally, my top 5 would be Baggio, Pirlo, Maldini, Riva and Buffon, in that order. I would also add an eleventh great Italian player, Sandro Mazzola. He was sensational.

It's a good list, but I'd have included Scirea

Ill give you more than 10. Baloncieri, Combi, Monzeglio, Allemandi, Ferrari, Libonatti, Monti, Orsi, Guaita (last 4 players were Argentinians, however they played for Italy), Meazza, Schiavio, Piola, Rava, Foni, Collaussi, Olivieri, Andreolo (he was from Uruguay, but he played for Italy), Ferraris, V. Mazzola, Boniperti, Carapallese, Amadei, Borel, Montouri, C. Maldini, Trapattoni, Bulgarelli, Domenghini, Rivera, Facchetti, S. Mazzola, Riva, Burgnich, Albertosi, Corso, Boninsegna, Prati, Anastasi, Chinaglia, Zoff, Capello, Causio, Bettega, Gentile, Scirea, Cabrini, Collovati, Antognoni, Conti, Graziani, P. Rossi, Tardelli, Altobelli, Bergomi, Pruzzo, Bordon, Vierchowood, Tacconi, Galli, F. Baresi, Costacurta, De Napoli, Carnevale, Giordano, Francini, Massaro, Zenga, Vialli, Pagliuca, Mancini, Ancelotti, Donadoni, Giannini, P. Maldini, Schillaci, R. Baggio, Evani, Signori, Zola, Albertini, D. Baggio, Ferrara, Lentini, E. Chiesa, Toricelli, Simone, Tasotti, Toldo, Casiraghi, Ravanelli, Conte, Di Biagio, Di Livio, Vieri, Del Piero, Peruzzi, Panucci, Materazzi, F. Cannavaro, Nesta, Buffon, Zambrotta, Totti, Pirlo, De Rossi, Gattuso, F. Inzaghi, Tomassi, Toni, Cassano, G. Rossi, Barzagli, Chiellini, Camoranesi, Bonucci, Di Natale, Quagliarella, Balotelli, Immobile, Insigne, Jorginho, Donnarumma, Veratti, Barella, F. Chiesa... It's over 120 players and I'm sure that I missed some of them... There were also Sivori, Schiaffino, Altafini and more players from other countries who played for Italy, however they played for Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil before they stared playing for Italy. Same as Monti and Libonatti in 20s and 30s of previous century...

I've been a Serie A fan since '91 when Baggio was at Juve; I followed him from the U.S. WC back to Italy and that's how I became a fan, LOL. I've also studied older players. I have no issue with this top 10.
