New in Chrome 69: CSS Scroll Snapping, Notches, Web Locks and more

It’s been ten years since Chrome was first released. A lot has changed since then, but our goal of building a solid foundation for modern web applications hasn’t!

In Chrome 69 there’s support CSS Scroll Snapping, support for notches, web locks, and a few cool new CSS4 features.

Let’s dive in and see what’s new for developers in Chrome 69!

One awesome generic feature for CSS would be themes like you define theme property in body *_theme: "dark";_* then for each sub element properties you can add like a *_background-color: black @dark;_* and you could stack up with *_background-color: black @dark @basic;_* or add another property *_background-color: white @light;_* so in your body you'll just have to change the theme property to switch all the effects/colors *_theme: "light";_* It'd do all the job. Maybe it could work on all properties or just the color module, which would be enough.

Today chromium 69 is available for the Linux platforms. What I've noted: 1) the space between the 2 adjacent favicons is longer than the previous layout, so that many favicons are no longer visible; 2) the space between the "+" button and the minimize button is unnecessary abundant, so to decrease the space for the TABs.

Web locks look great. I've been using broadcast channels to set flags between tabs to avoid these things. Nice to have an API for that 😊

I need help from Google Chrome 69 so I have a problem with videos and I have a frame around the video. if my frame is worse quality, the video is lighter and it's annoying. Please help
