Real foot doctor compares the Nike Vapor NXT ($160) and the Nike Court Lite 2 ($65) head to head to review their speed, comfort, durability, and playability and see which is actually the better tennis shoe? There is quite a big price gap between the two shoes but I want to see which shoe has the better engineering as well as which shoe plays better on an actual tennis court.

Excellent review! What I take away from this is that tech for techs sake does not necessarily make great shoe. Sounds like a basic shoe that is tried and true with tech from 25 years ago is a better court shoe than one incorporating the most modern tech and materials without a reason or purpose to do so. I think Nike has been guilty of that often the last ten years - sometimes paying off and often times not. There have been a lot of clunkers in the Nike tennis line since the advent of the Vapor 9.

Yup! Agree with this assessment. So so many ppl hate the new react vapor NXT. It’s way too bulky and that elastic tongue is so bad

Zach, you are a god. Really. You ask all the right questions and give the best answers with the most logical and evidence based explanations. As a sportsperson i've always tried to answer these questions. Thank you

Nice video. I used to have the old version of the nike court lite, which was nike city court and the cushioning was literally next to nothing! I changed the insoles with a dr. scholl gel insole and it felt like an expensive shoe after. However you’re right, durability was average.

Could you start doing more basketball shoe reviews? Your knowledge, detail, and willingness to open up a shoe and show all the details makes you one of the best shoe reviewers on this site

Court lite 2s were my very first court shoes, just over a year ago. I've had better and more expensive since then, but still love them

How would the court lite 2 do as a basketball shoe doc? Is the outsole durable according to you?

You should make a video like this with Adidas! I've been using the game courts with a basic over the counter orthotic for pickleball and I haven't had any complaints accept for a little bit of break in. They also have the same outsole that some of the top players in the world are using which has to say something.

For me the main issue with the vapor is the lack of padding in the tongue...even if you are strong and can carry that shoe the laces still bother you

Vapor NXT is just too heavy, main issue, if made lighter around 14 OZ with better upper support may have been a great performance shoe. Anyway, more and more i watch these videos, more and more i am thinking there is no other videos out there that breaks down the tennis shoes with such a technically honest and correct opinions. This doctor should be hired by USTA national performance team as the lead podiatry / foot / shoe expert for their premier athletes. Starting salary of $400, 000 with bonuses included might be a fair compensation.

Hi Zach, I am recovering from a broken achilles tendon, just had surgery a week ago, I know that I will not be on the tennis court soon but I was wandering If you can recommend some shoes that will help me with preventing this type of accidents in the future. So I will consider for when I will be fit enough to hit the courts again. At the moment I own a pair of almost new Adidas SoleMatch Bownce. Thank you!
