I genuinely honest to god can not even fathom a scarier situation to be in.
Young impressionable young lads who have been tricked into thinking that war will be an adventure where they and their friends will come back heros. Only to get there and realise that they have essentially been sent to their death in the most horrific ways imaginable.
They cannot leave or they will be shot for cowardice.
Their only smidgen chance of survival is luck that all the bullets and bombs miss their heads in no mans land.

And even if they came back alive. Its with horrendous injury or life changing ptsd.

War is Hell.

My great-great grandfather was a soldier during the First World War, in 1916 he almost died near Pskov and yes, he was a Russian man. He lived to be 109 years old. He passed away in 2004 I'm proud of my relative. It's a pity that I never met him. I was born in 2009, 5 years later

My grandfather and great-grandfather were and were both soldiers in the German Navy and both survived the war both the first and the second. Rest in Peace to all soldiers who died in both world wars
