Fun facts:
Neil Diamond and Barbara Streisand were classmates at Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn, N.Y., and were both members of the school's choral club.

Great reaction to one of the best duet pairings of all time...and this song is so emotional and so true of many, many

Neil Diamond recorded his song first and then Barbara covered the song around the same time. Here's where the magic happens, I remember this very well, I was there. Neil and Barbara actually recorded this song in the same key so a disk jockey on a radio station spliced the two versions together to make a duet out of the song and played the duet on the radio. It went really big around the country and it was such a hit that Barbra and Neil went back into the studio and officially recorded the song in a duet! So, this is how this song became this wonderful duet!

Somehow this song is even sadder because there is no villain. No one cheated. No one is abusive or in it for the wrong reasons. Just two good people coming to the realization that they’ve drifted apart.

In 1977 these two were at the very peak of their singing talents. The song was a perfectly sad ballad about faded love.

I like this one, a really good song and ballad by two great artistes, . Barbara Streisland has a beautiful voice and they complement each other so well on this. The lyrics well interpreted by you, Angela-Colin Ward

Let's not forget to give Neil Diamond credit for writing the song in the first place. He co-wrote it with two other people and recorded it alone. Afterwards, he did it as a duet with Barbra Streisand.

GREAT Reaction Dear! 😁 And I Love how you are Always able to Decipher the Meaning of the Song! That is Important! At Least as far as I'm concerned it is! And there have been a Few of these Tunes that you have picked up on, and I Hadn't! So THANKS! 😁😘 But yes. The Fact that Neil was willing to Dial down his Vocals here is because according to an Interview he Did back in the 80's. It was his idea, because he was a Long time Fan of Barbra! Apparently they worked well! When he wasn't " FAN BOYING " on her! 🤣 👍Love this Tune! 😘

Very heartfelt reaction. Barbra has three albums full of duets with some of the greatest, and in every song she never tries to outshine her duet patners, which she could easily do with most. From her first duet with Judy Garland when she was in her 20s, to her last one with Ariana Grande when she was in her 70s, Barbra never sings from her ego. Check out "Tell Him" with Celine Dion, and "Enough Is Enough (No More Tears)" with Donna Summer. Would love to hear more Barbra reactions from you.
