The Snapshot that Fixed Ores in Minecraft

The new Snapshot 23w04a introduced new functionality to the smithing table, which now requires a new item called the netherite smithing template to turn diamond equipment into netherite. Those can be duplicated using diamonds, which is the first time since 1.4 that diamonds got a new use. However, using other smithing templates and any mineral and ore, you can now customize your armor, which means that every single ore in the game just got a new use.

Great coverage of this, too many other Ytubers dragged out their videos on this one lol. I for one, like the snapshot and the potential this means for customization and Pvp. I hope the patterns get a tweak though, they're a bit "busy".

I like the idea of the new method of obtaining netherite equipment and the armor patterns, but I feel like crafting a duplicate is not very minecraft-y (Perhaps a new workstation or other means of replicating)

Seriously I love this change regarding to how armour looks but also as a balancing change so that if me and my friends make a server we won’t be wearing netherite after 2 days

No. It's not a feature, it's a bug.

People like Minecraft for its simplicity. This is the opposite of simplicity.
