Pianist Rafał Blechacz performs a miniature masterpiece by Chopin: the well-known Waltz in C sharp minor, Op. 64 No. 2. Dedicated to one of the composer’s wealthy pupils, Baroness Charlotte de Rothschild, this is one of a set of three waltzes that were published in 1847 and together reveal Chopin at the height of his imaginative powers. Blechacz’s expressive, flowing interpretation underlines the poignancy of the writing.

I've listened to 100 versions of this song being played. This one is the first and only that makes me feel like it's being played as it was intended. This is genius. This is absolutely otherworldly. God bless you Raphael whoever you are. All my respect.

I am very happy to find new Rafał Blechacz content. I grew up listening to his Chopin Competition videos. Many of my idealized interpretations came straight from these videos, that is, his interpretation are what I think of and want when I think about Chopin.

Rafal Blechacz is a living Chopin for me.

It’s my daily routine to listen to his “Polonaises” albums first thing in the morning. The tone he plays is not only beautiful, but the tempo, rhythm and beat are really exquisite. I’d love to listen/watch his Waltz and Mazurka more💓

May his next album be Chopin’s Waltzes & Mazurkas! 🙏🏻🙏🏻

One of my most favorite works by CHOPIN. And this is the best performance of this piece I have ever seen and heard out of dozens of other performances. Panie Rafale- Fryderyk would be proud of You.

ブレハッチのワルツは生で聴きました。
この曲は彼の為にあるような、運命の曲のようです。

Beautiful. If not the best, one of the very best interpretations of this piece. I can listen to this over and over again.

Beautiful! Lovely tonalities & sensibly placed rubato made my head go spinning with the steps to the dance of the waltz❤❤❤

.. 2 hours ago: live at Villingen, Franziskaner Konzerthaus. So Fluid, so dense, so smooth, so timeslipping .. phenomenal! Thank you so much, Mr Blechacz ❤

Incredible! Such a gracefully interpreted by Rafal Blechacz Chopin: Waltz No. 7!

When he was awarded First Prize and special prizes @ XV International Chopin Piano Competition in 2005 no second prize could be awarded, “he prevailed against 80 competitors from 18 countries”.

"A great artist can really enter the logic of any particular mazurka and fully understand the language of Chopin's music." ~ Rafal Blechacz

Wonderful interpretation, so varied, liquid and effortless! Blechacz has a strong Chopinesque aura, both in playing and in person!
And I loved how he pulled away his hands from the keyboard at the end, as though he was surprised that the instrument created those sounds at his mere touch.

This is my favorite piece I often watch on Stage Plus. I love playing this on the piano myself but always feel that phrasing it musically is a difficult thing to do. In that sense, RB’s rendition sounds perfect to me and hopefully I can play this Waltz just beautifully like him one day!
