On her way to school, young Hope gets sexually abused by a male stranger. She undergoes a major surgery, but ends up with wounds that cannot be healed for life. Hope’s family falls in utter despair. From the trauma of that day, Hope even refuses her father, ‘Dong-hoon’. No longer able to be with Hope, Dong-hoon hides under the costume of his daughter’s favorite cartoon character and becomes her guardian angel at her side. Thanks to the love of those around her and her guardian angel, Hope gradually becomes brighter. At the sight of Hope slowly finding stability and laughter, her family also starts to change and try to find hope in the midst of despair.

I literally just watched this movie, and the amount of times I cried is absolutely unreal. Keep in mind that this is based on true events, I literally can’t believe someone would have the right mind to do these sorts of things to a child. It’s the fact that he’s already realised makes me so anguish, people like him don’t deserve to roam free. The reason why he only had 12 years is because he was intoxicated, hope this movie spreads more awareness not only just child safety, but actually have some real common sense as well. Anyways absolutely love this movie.

It made my cry literally. You can't stop your tears falling from your eyes during watch this. Highly recommended this movie to all of you. The acting by child actor was amazing. All the characters did a great job.

Just watched the movie and its absolutely heartbreaking to know that its based on a true story.This movie almost broke me, all the cast played their characters so well specially the little girl…I was drawning in my tears when she started wiping her dads face with her little hands

This movie will make you cry throughout and you will realise what a cruel world we live in. I'm from India and sexual assault against women is quite common here. In fact Delhi is known as the rape capital of the world. The child actor really did a great job and all the cast members were really good. This movie really deserves a lot of attention. There were tears in my eyes at the climax. Highly recommended movie.

Unfortunately this was based on a true story... Cho Doo Soon, a monster with an extensive criminal history, including manslaughter, previous sexual assaults, and several other violent crimes. To all which he claimed he was "intoxicated", thus having his sentences reduced.

The Korean "justice system", if we can even call it that, is an absolute joke... Anyone claiming "intoxication" is generally given a MUCH lighter sentence. For example, his manslaughter case, where he beat an old man to death at a bar, which he only got 5 years for, then reduced to just 2 years... Imagine a place where you can kill someone and only get 2 years in jail, and just let back out into society to harm more people... Simply because you claimed you were "intoxicated". If that is not a joke of a "justice system", then I'm not sure what is...



For this specific case that lead to this movie, here are the gruesome details of the horrifying day... (Disclaimer: Stop reading here if you aren't prepared for some horrific details):

In December 2008, Cho Doo Soon kidnapped an 8-year-old girl named Nayoung while she was on her way too school.

Do Soon was intoxicated during the incident, and repeatedly raped and beat Nayoung at a public squat toilet. He raped her vaginally, anally, and through her ears. After, he tried to strangle her. He held her head underwater so that the child could lose consciousness.

He tried to get rid of his semen by pushing a pipe in her. He damaged her body so much that one of her intestines had come out of her body, which he tried to put back into her by shoving it up her anus. He then made her sit up so her organs wouldn’t fall out and proceeded to rape her again.



The worst part about this whole case is that after his release in December of 2020, he moved to the same neighborhood as Nayoung. Now, with that info, one would think that police would provide security guards around Nayoung and her family right? No. They have many active police officers protecting this monster named Cho Doo Soon, to make sure he doesn't get harmed by other citizens...

All the tax dollars, time, and effort wasted on this monster is unforgivable... "It" needs to be put down! I truly hope that gangs in South Korea will show this monster the justice it deserves.
