I was born in 1951 and clearly remember my grandfather, (who was born in 1898, talking about the "League of Nations" and how he had been against it and then of course he also went on to include the United Nations not being any better either, and that it was a dangerous institution. He was a smart man and knew what he was talking about it. He departed this life in the 1980s. I still miss him and his wisdom. Thanks Rudy. You are so aware of what the bottom line is. Our country is run by corporations, in my belief too.

AP, I had my own personal SHTF experience last week on a business trip. I was in Philadelphia for a week and decided to rent a small house through airbnb in a quiet residential neighborhood rather than stay downtown in a hotel in Center City where so much crime is happening.

It gives me a quiet home setting, I can eat a healthy breakfast & supper after a busy day & take a walk each morning. Keeps my mental & physical game in better shape & I’m away from downtown chaos.

Thursday night, the Uber dropped me off at 8:25p. A quiet street with golden porch lights on, halloween decorations and pumpkins on stoops. I washed my face, put on my pjs & made a cup of tea. I settled on the sofa to check email and heard an argument in the street. Nothing crazy, just some raised voices, then … GUNFIRE!!

I hit the floor, dialed 911 (thank goodness I remembered the address I had put into Uber returning home!) and crawled to the bathroom - the only room without windows in the whole house - as the gunfire continued.

My 911 call was at 8:41 - just 16 min after I had returned to a quiet family friendly residential street - no sign of what was about to unfold.

A LONG 20 min later, police sirens, helicopters and three dead bodies on my porch & in the street out front. WHAT THE BLEEP?!?

I spent the night being interviewed by police, telephoning with the airbnb owner who lives in another state (and was shocked) and, candidly shaking for hours as I contemplated what I could have done if, instead of a body on the porch, someone had made it inside.

I travel several times a month for work, by air, so self defense tools are a challenge when I’m away from home. Even with high situational awareness, this wasn’t something to anticipate. I later learned it was an attempted carjacking of a pizza delivery driver down the block that turned into more.

I’m grateful I wasn’t caught in the middle of this on the street coming home 15 min earlier and I continue to evaluate how to do the work I do (which requires travel) while keeping myself safe.

It IS changing around us and SHTF takes many forms, not always how we imagine. I’m grateful for having kept my head during a chaotic time.

Every bank that receives or did receive bailout funds needs to be sued. UN didn’t bail them out the US taxpayer did. Notwithstanding banks use FDIC insurance from US Govt.
