WHAT IS THE NAME OF THE BOOK? Is it really that hard for investigative journalists to find that out???🤦🏼‍♀️

The 2020s are even more litigious than the 1980s.

If you can't name the book this is incomplete. You should have waited until that information was available. You told us a whole lot of nothing.

Hmmmm why would we have a teacher shortage? Can't imagine.😐

Many years ago, in an English class, we were assigned Siddhartha. One of the students' parents objected, because of their religion. He was assigned a different book.
None of us, as students, cared. We all thought his parents were putzs, but we also recognized, it was their right as his parents.

Bad reporting, name of class, name of book, all you had to do was ask, parents or students

Romeo and Juliet is a story of preteens having sex and committing suicide and murder. Thats been in schools a lot longer.

It's an elective. They can simply go to a different class.

More worried about kids reading a book than being in the Gilbert Goons

Wow, a criminal investigation over a book. How low we have gone. How did books become so dangerous.

It's an elective course for a college level class. What do these parents think their children will be exposed to in the real world?

More critical and analytical thinking skills education, less aversion to logic and reason, less religious "grooming and indoctrination."

People seem to glossing over the fact that this is a college level course. If you aren't mature enough for the content, don't sign up.

It's book. Geez. If you don't have the strength of your convictions, then a book will threaten them I reckon. Most of these people don't even read books. Most Americans don't read books. When I suggest a book in posts, I'm usually asked to summarize it for them because they simply refuse to read them. My father, a lifelong teacher, called this attitude, "Studied ignorance."

As far as breaking state law, that's more of a failure on the administration by way of the district and principals. They approve these books and lesson plans. As a teacher, that is also your own responsibility to CYA since the administration won't protect you even when you are not to blame as you are finding out. But if parents don't go to meetings or take some responsibility when it comes time to elect these school boards what do you expect.

Not a required class, so take the kid out of the class. The kid will probably still read the book, the parent won't know. Interested in what the book is.

People who attempt to ban books need to be banned. If parents are unhappy with what happens in public schools go to a private one or home school.

If the course is a college level course, they have to expect college level reading. Enroll your kid in a regular honors English class if you don't like the reading. It's an ELECTIVE.

The police could have said "we have found no merit to the allegations stated by a parent"
but they said "we are actively investing"🤔
I'm just gonna take that at face value😅
