In the words of brad paisley “this is country music and we do”. I love Eric Church. He’s so real and I love it.

The female voice in this song is a woman named Joanna Cotten. Joanna is a regular in Eric’s group

I think many artists, especially country artists, are afraid of speaking out because they will lose fans. At this point in Eric Church’s career, he might get some hate for speaking out (which has happened for previous work/ statements), but he’s got a huge fan base who appreciate who Eric Church is as a person and artist and support him 100%. That being said, Eric Church will do whatever the hell he wants despite what people say.

i'd rather listen to a song about an underpaid teacher than "girl i know your favorite beer, cause you told me, and i bought it"

"Disneyfied elevator music for tailgates." It might be the best quote of all time.

I love this song already. Tired of all country songs being about idyllic small towns that don't exist where the Prom Queen ends up with the Quarterback and we all live happily ever after.

Listened to Chief’s new song this morning and I literally thought, “I can’t wait until Grady posts a video about this.”

That one line, about a soldier coming home at 23 going on 54, really hits hard. I love this song and I hope it actually does become a major hit.

My local country station played this song when it debuted every hour that day, and they haven’t played it since. But I’ve heard Kane Brown’s “Cool Again” about 100 times.

This song is a stroke of genius. I've really missed these angry little social songs that hasn't really been covered this intensely in mainstream country since, I don't know, Toby Keith's "Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue" off the top of my head.

He said this was written in January before everything that started, started. I also said right away this will be a great song live in concert. This is what his fan base loves...I like it! 😂😉Can’t wait to hear the album!!!!

Joanna has a massive voice and it blends so well with Eric.

This song is so awesome and he rightfully called out the genre for the relentless positivity & how broad and generic most of mainstream country music is at the moment.

"If you';re pissing somebody off you're saying something kinda true" Amen brother.

Already seeing people calling it out as “angry.” If anything, it’s a necessary critique, and that’s what country should be.

Jeffrey Steele also has written numerous Montgomery Gentry and Rascal Flatts hits, "The Cowboy in Me" for Tim McGraw, "Knee Deep" for Zac Brown Band, "Brand New Girlfriend" for Steve Holy, etc.

I think it hits home a little when he sings the lines about the teacher who can party/protest/ be apart of the machine that is society only to come to school on a weekday to see the problems and struggle that the kids bring to school because of the struggles their families fight. It hurts too because I know my individual students that are living through neglect, domestic violence and substance abuse. It is so rewarding to provide education, clothing, food, love and foster confidence in them. 🇦🇺 Love your channel.

I remember when Eric first started. He had issues with his label about the kind of things he wanted to sing about and the industry wanting the Vanilla stuff. It's seems since Outsiders he's really put music out that means something rather than looking for #1.

Proud to say this was recorded in my hometown of Banner Elk, NC at a restaurant called Artisanal. This is back before any social unrest or protests had begun, but I feel like the release couldn’t have been timed any better. Rap artists have no shame in addressing uncomfortable issues, and it’s time Country artists stepped up and did the same.

The verse about teachers made my jaw drop. As a teacher myself I have never really had a verse written about me and it was awesome! Thanks Eric Church!
