Hi Jon,

I think we need a video: Facing Donk leads. I have seen more “incorrect” leads at me as PFR than I ever recall in recent months.
I really need to know what gen-pop is doing when they donk lead at the current time. I know everyine is doing something different in general, but you have to start SOMEWHERE when you just sat down and have no reads or tendencies, and no HUD (live poker).

Do people tend to lead top pair? Do they lead flush draws and open-Enders? And/or do they lead gutshots?

A friend just showed me an online hand at 6-max where opp donk-led top 2 pair (his nutted hands)!

I’ve been thinking when facing someone you don’t know, just tend to call down marginal and good made hands early in a session just to gain info—hopefully not 3-streets worth of price!

If the logic is to get villain to put more money into the pot, I get calling when villain will most likely bet the turn. However, if villain isn't likely to bet the turn, why not check and let villain live to see the river to increase the chances of a bet? Wouldn't raising just add more discouragement to continuing the hand?

I usually want to raise when the villain is likely on a draw, letting them have the chance of a free card makes their job a lot easier. Sometimes it backfires, but then, if you get reraised you are very likely to be beat anyway and can fold. If you do it right, and not risk too much at once, I think this ends up being more cost effective over time.

Makes a lot of sense; thanks for the little tip to add to my "poker knowledge repertoire" :)
