Founded by Rufus Pollock in 2004, Open Knowledge is a nonprofit organisation that advocates for open knowledge in its broadest sense by promoting and facilitating the open exchange of knowledge that already exists, and could be put to a wider social use.

Open Knowledge believes that information can empower everyone, enabling people to work together to tackle local and global challenges, understand our world, expose inefficiency and challenge inequality and hold governments and companies to account.
