Peter asked Yeshua-Jesus in Matthew 18 how many times he should forgive his brothers. Jesus answered with a multiplication problem. He wasn’t testing Peter’s math skills. For every word in Hebrew, there is a numerical value. The answer of 490 has great spiritual significance throughout scripture. Journey with Rabbi Jason Sobel to Capernaum Israel, the place where many of Jesus' teachings and miracles took place, and discover the many words 490 represents, revealing the full picture of transformation that comes through true forgiveness.

There is a remnant of Jewish believers who truly are a light to the gentiles, they teach the meat and potatoes of the word .

Thank you for this good reminder to re-evaluate our forgiveness quotient. We can suppose we are ok, but then forget or be caught off guard as it (unforgiveness) quietly slips into our lives again and hides in a corner. A continual dusting of the cobwebs .

3:35 I was here thinking that it would be Genesis chapter 4, speaking of Lamech... but this passage says instead "If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, then Lamech seventy-sevenfold". So my mistake... Your explanation is great and presents Scriptures in the new perspective. Todah, rabbi Jason Sobel!

What a fantastic added dimension and insight to God's unending forgiveness. I am so grateful to have stumbled upon this video as I was thumbing through the Chosen videos. May God continue to bless you and your ministry.

Thank you for this teaching. But i really want to know, is it possible that we forgive toxic people but not reconcile with them because they are too toxic and even often times twisted Word of God to fulfill their desire? Is this act is biblical? Because some believers said that is true because we need to guard our heart from whatever which can lead us to sin. But the other hand, some people say that forgiveness is with reconciliation? I wish i can get rabbi's teaching about this. Thank you!

The ministry of Messiah was also 490 days. Check out The Chronological Gospels by Michael Rood.

How do I truly forgive someone who I know has not changed and continues to do the same things that would hurt me again if I allowed them back into my life?  This unforgiveness I have carried for years does trouble me, not them..Can I forgive and not have a relationship with them again?

980 is how many times Jesus is mentioned in the KJB. 490 in the odd books of the New Testament. And 490 in the even. When talking about the Christ, Jesus.
