Donkey Kong Country Returns is Still Incredible

What's that? Switch 2? Get out of here with that, DKC Returns HD is the REAL biggest release of 2025. Grand Theft Auto 6 WISHES it had as much hype as Returns.

It's impressive how much Retro knocked it out of the park with their first attempt at DKC, and then knocked the park out of the city with Tropical Freeze. Hopefully after Metroid Prime 4 finally releases Retro will go back and do a third DKC. I'd love to see you do a similar analysis video of how Tropical Freeze improves on the already great format of Returns.

Love this game, the beach pirate crabs, wooden tiki theme everything! Love the Dino fossil cliffs, it’s kinda like going through a paleo museum exhibit, love purple sky. The music matches the vibe of every level perfectly! Retro studios did a very good job on this donkey Kong game!

I do wish they had spent their efforts on an HD remake of the original Country trilogy, but I happily bought Returns for the third time.

I gotta say, I didn't get too in to Tropical Freeze. I felt it was a bit to "floaty", you might say. Like DK moves very smoothly and is well animated which make hitboxes hard to determine in a pinch. I prefer the more snappy and stiff feel of the classic 2D Mario games. But I very much appreciate how it is an incredible well designed game and I'll have to give it another go some day, along with DKC Returns as well. Maybe I was just in a bad mood playing it. Sometimes that can affect my enjoyment of games quite a bit.

I love this game the levels are awesome but what helped me get hooked is the tiki tak tribe
