Thank you for educating people on this process... I owned and operated a Funeral home in N. California for 25 years ... people have no idea the work that goes into the entire process of taking care of the dead

Sorry but I've done disinternments before with that type of Vault and yes they still do leak on occasion no matter how careful you follow instructions sorry .

In my part of the USA where we have lots of rain if you don’t fill a septic tank, a much heavier chunk of concrete, with water at installation it will pop up out of the ground. I’m betting these vaults are made to sell and have holes to let water in or they’d float out too.

Why should it be sealed? Can’t we let our fluids just seep into the earth?

What if a person isn't completely dead? There is no way they can dig out. So it ought to have a bell or something inside just in case.
They actually did this on the 19th century

I just don't get vaults. Who wants to rot inside a box ? I'd rather go back into the ground.

So whats the point of having a vault, over just burying the coffin in the ground. Where I am, its just the coffin thats put in the ground.
