There's a Fly in my Wine!

Показать описание
No flies were killed in the making of this video! Both flies woke up after about five minutes and flew away when later released. Typically, CO2 is used in the lab to temporarily anesthetize flies for things like sorting and observation, but at home, ice was a simpler and safer option. In fact, I used ice to temporarily slow down flies all the time during my undergraduate research, because we were interested in the flies' sensory responses, and things like CO2 and other chemical means of anesthetizing flies could mess with their sensory abilities!
A fruit fly landed in my glass of wine a few weeks ago, and I remembered a study I had heard about that said even a single fly could change the flavor of a glass of wine... It was time to make a video!
