Thank you so much for posting this. I have a UI16 and having watched the Soundcraft instructional video for that unit I had almost no idea how the AFS2 worked. I now have a much better understanding. :-) I never thought to look at the UI24 videos until someone pointed me towards them.

Kia ora Bro, thank you so much for these Tutorials! If you ever do Skype lessons on the UI24R I'd be more than happy to pay and learn from you for a couple of hours. Legend

We have our UI24R about a year now - I would be lost without your videos - I'm the bass player in a 5 piece rock band but also run sound for our band - so have to setup and soundcheck and then make any adjustments as we go.

Just wanted to say how much I appeciate your videos - the official Soundcraft video for AFS2 is terrible - he didn't even have it turned on!

I know I'm late to the party but great video and I understood all but one thing. When you increased the HPF and the the feedback increased because of the Q point of the whole system, this bit I don't understand and it would be helpful to know what it is, i've always had the belief that a HPF on the AUX was a good thing to cut out low end feedback and rumble on stage, but I'm seeing that now as not a good idea and I may be causing more problems than solving. I'm definitely going to seperate my monitor and FOH mix, although we will be switching to in-ears eventually, this won't always be the case.

This video really helped me understand AFS2, but only for the FOH (front of house), however with my foldback monitor (Aux 1) the AFS2 doesn't seem to work, even when it is switched on to live. There is feedback on my vocal mic, but neither the fixed or live seems to detect it in the foldback.
I'm assuming that there's a setting somewhere that I may have missed, but if you or anyone else has come across this problem please let me know, as it is making my solo gigs difficult.

How do I set up aux sends so that all channels don’t play through the selected aux. I tried make only vocals go through an aux channel but all other instruments came through it. How do I fix this?

Thanks for the videos you have made. I would be totally lost without them. Just used Soundcheck mode today thanks to you. But I cannot find a video showing how to set up stereo Aux channels for use with IEM. Can you please direct me?

Thank your for this video. What i'm a little concerned about is the fact, that you are ringing in the auxes by AFS but then drawing the Graphical EQ. I mean: AFS takes out the problematic frequencies with extremely narrow notch filters. Drawing the EQ by hand means to burden out neighbour frequencies, too. Is that advisable? Isn't exactly the "fixed" mode of the AFS for?

Could you please increase the volume of your YT vlogs, as I have to turn up my system by 24 db just to hear it at a reasonable level. YT has info for your audio levels in its guidelines.

Is this close to the steps you took to do this?
Using AFS2 to EQ Monitors
1. Setup Microphone on required Vocal Channel
2. Gain set to +35dB
3. Click on Edit/Aux Sends
4. Set Send for that channel to 0.0dB
5. Set Aux Master channel level to -∞
6. Set channel mic level to 0.0dB
7. Select Aux channel Master
8. Select Edit/EQ page
9. Turn on AFS2
10. Set sensitivity to 0dB
11. Press Clear All
12. Set Mode to Fixed
13. Slowly increase Aux Channel volume
14. Pull volume back down after first 6 frequencies have occurred.
15. Manually pull down those frequencies on the Graphic EQ
16. Clear All again
17. Repeat to find 6 new frequencies.
18. Again, manually pull down those frequencies.
19. Once completed switch Mode to Live

Hi,
Thanks for this video. Although i know that the instruments can go into a speaker first before sending it into the mixer.
But let’s say i want to root the voices and instruments first into the soundcraft mixer and then send it out to the speakers and i have 3 speakers, but i want to assign voices to only 2 while all instruments are on the 3 but 1 without voice but instruments only, just to ensure that the instrumentalists have great feedback.
How can i do that with soundcraft mixer? Thanks

When I restart the UI24 mixer, the show selects the default show *init*. This was working fine till last sunday. Request any help on this please

Thanks for all the videos, just wondering if there is any way to have the headphone sends act as two more aux sends like the UI16?

This is great but I can't figure out how to mix in the soundcraft and then get the mixed tracks in my daw for further processing/mastering. Any tips?

Dear Soundcraft, I have the following issue with the UI24r (great piece of kit!). Two Mics, both have reverb. But in the AUX mix, the singers don't want to hear the reverb of the other. The reverb is available for everyone to hear, as it set on the input of the channel.. We can't seem to find the solution for this. Hope you can help :)

how would you do this with IEMs or would you not need to?

Please explain why you want to patch channel 4 to channel 3. I want to run IEM and can’t I just send my lead vocal mic channel 4 to an aux and EQ iem mix separately from front of house mix I set up from FOH or is what you set for FOH default to the aux? Question 2 from the patching from channel 4 to 3 do you now have to ensure you don’t plug anything in that physical input on the ui24 since you are using it for monitor mixing?

Is there a reason that the software doesn't have the markers at source (mics) for feedback detection in addition to the output (aux and master)? It would be great if you could see from the mic channel where you are feeding back so that you could trim at the mic instead of just aux and master so that that source is trimmed and doesn't affect output quality on all instruments so much. Might be something for future patches?
