You Were Dead…but God - Ephesians 2:1-10 - Skip Heitzig

This is the tenth and final study in our series ...but God, and today we get most personal. Rather than considering Joseph, David, Nehemiah, Isaac, or Daniel, we focus on our own story. Four simple phrases describe for us the spiritual journey all believers take through this life on our way to heaven. If you are a believer, all four of these things should happen. Unfortunately, too many stop with the first two and never successfully engage the last two. Let’s look at each one and evaluate how our lives can be lived to the full potential.

This teaching is from our series ...but God with Skip Heitzig from Calvary Church.

I loved hearing you share about your moment when you were convinced you weren’t going to cave in and get saved, but then found yourself praying the sinners prayer…that happened to me back in February while listening to one of your sermons on the book of Romans. When you read 3:23, I had my “but God” moment.

This is so true about the natural man being not physically dead but spirituality dead. Being myself conformed to this world with drugs and alcohol I was once like Moses's lost in the wilderness for last 40 years. In almost 2 years totally absence from any artificial substance I've come so far in physically mentally and spiritually to no comparison than the last 40 years, short calender months! Absence from substance was only the first step, there are so many more steps to God's path to his Kingdom and eventually Heaven. Today I feel guilty for a white lie or wrongful thought, which is a sin anyway you view it. I lost absolutely everything I ever had and things I treasured. Than I realized Jesus was all that I really needed until Jesus was all I had. Through all my trails I've also realized were blessings that help mold, push me back on the path. I thank God everyday he had the patience he never gave up me even when I gave up on myself. So knowing this patience is not a problem with my steps towards HIM. God Bless Skip Heitzig for what he has and does through God.

A very clear exposition on this passage, no confusion in this interpretation, like looking into the mind of the author of Ephesians 2. One thing that I do not understand though, to me both the gospels and some of Paul's epistles point to a return of Christ in the first century. I would like to hear Pastor Heitzig exposit that theme since he seems to be able to expound with such clarity.
