✨OPEN ME✨ New Year, New Reading Plan.

January is an exciting time of year - with new beginnings and New Year resolutions (if you're into that) - but it can also be stressful when setting up realistic, achievable, and enjoyable goals. The same goes for readers! I took the time to supply you with 5 things to keep in mind as you set up your reading goals for 2023, and I sprinkle in some of my own too!

Thanks for spending some time with me and have a great day!

About Me: My name is Leandra, and my goal starting in January 2022 is to slowly...very slowly (ugh)... get my TBR shelves to ZERO. Said shelves contain adult fiction and nonfiction, Young Adult (YA) fiction, and even some middle grade reads!! Needless to say, my tastes are as scattered as my shelves.

2023 Stats:

Some great tips. It's good to remember that reading and our reading goals should be fun and interesting.

Goals vs Challenges was so helpful to remember. I love challenges because they offer new authors and subjects options. My goals for the year are to read more non-fiction, and to read more from my shelf so I can eliminate/donate the ones I don’t want to keep. Thanks!

I really appreciate your positive approach to this. These are great tips. I'm not one for setting lots of goals, my main one is to make sure I'm reading books from my shelves. I'll also happily start a new goal or challenge partway through the year so I'll revisit your advice. I love your idea of reading new-to-you golden age authors!

These are great tips! Personally, I set my goals with an eye to just keep me on track. For me, reading is self-care and I (and everyone around me) can tell when I'm not doing it. Thus, I set things like my Goodreads goal high enough to keep me reading, but I don't mean it to be a "stretch."

I enjoyed your perspective and breakdown of how to think about and plan goals. My main goal is consistency!

Great tips! There definitely is a difference between goals and challenges. I have both for myself this year 😂 I started a TBR challenge to lower my physics tbr. Goals are to be better with running my book club, try waking up earlier to steal some reading time in the morning before my kids wake up, and to shut my phone off during reading time.

I found myself in real rut last year, so I decided to expand to authors, tv shows and movies that I have never seen. It really helped a lot and I discovered all kinds of wonderful things and through that Shedunnit and through Shedunnit your podcast. So it is fun and it is expanding, and very healthy.

Great video! I'm thinking of not doing TBR videos this year. I liked doing them, but I found myself too restricted to the list and/or feeling too guilty repeating the same books every month.
