2021 is the year that keeps on giving, and now an extremely talented high school athlete has managed to break history.

Congratulations Hobbs Kessler! Enjoy your new record!

** Edit - At the end of the video on the results tab, the finishing time for Hobbs is actually 3:57.66, not 3:57.81 as it was accidentally written. Thanks for understanding!**

This guy is legitimately on fire. Can’t wait to see where he goes in the future.

So happy for him, he was aiming for a 4:03 and didn’t plan on breaking 4 till March or April. Amazing race after so much hard work over the past year

A lot of people don’t realize that Hobbs was a legit National level climber before he really started to take off as a runner. He is just an amazing athlete all around!

I can’t wait to possibly run with him this year at regionals for track, but at the same time I’m terrified lol

His name is actually Hobbs Kessler and not the other way around.

Oh Nick knew what was about to go down! He has been training with Hobbs up here in frigid Ann Arbor and both are 'coached' by University of Michigan coaching legend legend Ron Warhurst. Very bright future ahead for this young man!

When he said it I didn’t realize it was just the indoor record. Allen Webb ran 3:53 outdoors. That’s insane though. Why haven’t I heard of him until now?

I did that too but the cameras weren’t on

Damn. That was fast. Just a couple hours later and a new upload.

Make you realize the performance Jim Ryun did back in 1965 running sub 4 min.(3.58.3) mile on a cinder track!

the amazing thing is that there has been a wave of h.s. kids that have finally showed up with these capabilities from 2015 till today. Now there's this kid HARRISON who's run a 4:01 as a soph last spring (2020)

That acceleration at 50 to go was unreal! Good for Hobbs. Future of American distance running looks amazing.

Cant imagine you have great talent, training hard everyday over years even on thanksgiving xmas new year, eating right and finally you have a good day finishing a sub 4 mile, but you are in last place. Mad respect for you guys.

WOOW, and Hobbs is actually a full year longer than Drew Hunter was, this adds to the crazy feat. Curious how he will time in an outdoor race & against fellow HS runners. Thrilled !

Off 30 miles a week too according to Nick Willis' post after the race. Willis had some really interesting comments on Hobbs, seems like he loves the journey more than anything which is what is important. If you focus on the times, the numbers you'll burn out quick. What a performance, look like NAU got another absolute star in the making.

Wow. What a talented kid. For those asking Alan Webb has the outdoor record. He ran 3:53:43 outdoors at the Prefontaine Classic in 2001.

Wow Incredible. Can’t wait to see more of him.

I see he stepped out with what looks like 3 to go, doesn't that disqualify him? Never the less crazy performance!!
