Have you ever used software that just frustrates you to no end? For me, that’s not Pixelmator Pro—it’s Adobe Photoshop! Endless clicks, confusing menus, and a UI that feels stuck in the past. Photoshop may have AI now, but the struggle is real, especially when you just want to make something simple, like a YouTube thumbnail.

Enter Pixelmator Pro. A one-time purchase, Mac-exclusive app that has completely changed how I design graphics. At first, I wasn’t sure about it—it felt too simple compared to Photoshop. But once I got the hang of masks, effects, and layers, I realized it wasn’t just simpler; it was better for my workflow. I went from rage-quitting Photoshop to actually enjoying graphic design again.

In this video, I’ll share:
✔️ Why Pixelmator Pro is my go-to app for creating YouTube thumbnails
✔️ The newest updates in Pixelmator
✔️ The few downsides you should know before buying

Photoshop and Lightroom are pretty mature programs. It's going to be hard to beat them in a professional context. I haven't tried pixel Mater yet, thanks for the introduction!

I like your thoughts about both Photoshop and Pixelmator Pro. They feel relevant and based on personal experience of both programs. I only wonder if some of the limitations compared to Lightroom could be due to that their other program, Photomator is a more fair comparison.

My guess is Affinity photo might be more suited to your needs.

I believe Photomator would be the Lightroom equivalent for photo processing. At least that works for me. Thank you!

They do have a Pixelmator for iPados, it’s not called Pro tho. I wonder if Apple will end up merging both.

Gotta disagree with you there. To rival Adobe, you don't want to do the same thing as Adobe - namely, create a subscription based software suite to nickel-and-dime your client base.
