Profoto B2 Review

Professor Frank returns to share the specs on Profoto’s new B2 strobe and the trend that strobe heads that are getting smaller and lighter. The B2 from Profoto is light enough to carry with one hand and has many applications in photography, and possibly video. Do you see a benefit to these smaller-sized heads, or are you sticking with larger heads?

Lots of important things haven't been covered here. However B2 is a very nice portable system, but for the price tag it should be offering at least W300 power, at least.

Ugh, this is not a review, this is a just a product description video. That's fine and the info is good, I would just like the title to tell me what I'm actually about to invest 8min in. Any chance you've posted a video actually using the b2 that I missed? These are really expensive for the average person and I'm on the fence with this or the Indra.

I was pissed off, I was really interested in this flash kit. I was told that it only worked off batteries Which dosen"t really suit me, as I do most of my photography in the studio. How ever I just found out now that you can plug it into the mains and still use the B2's while it still charges the B2 battery pack.

Hi there JP; appreciate the quick review of the Profoto B2 and all your videos!!  One new battery powered option I have really been trying to get some real visibility on is the new Phottix Indra heads.  They came out with a 500 that looks like about the same size pack as the one here and maybe a bit bigger head...but it is 500W.  I also hear they are coming out with a 350W option in the near term too.  As someone who shoots my Nikon with the existing Odin wireless radio triggers on all my existing speedlights...they Phottix Indras are interesting to me becasue they come with the Odin receivers built in...they do TTL...and they do HSS up to 1/8000s....and I can use them with the same transmitter I already have and all the receivers and speedlights I already have.  Soooo...any chance I could get your opinion on the Phottix Indra line or maybe a video or mention in an upcoming "trends from the trenches" or something.  I really enjoy all your videos and value your opinion...so would be great to hear what you think.

Thanks again,
GSM

Not at all sure why one would choose this over a Quantum head and flashback ($1k or thereabouts) if portability and power is your primary concern.

If power is your primary goal, an einstein with a vagabond mini doesn't weigh much more and gives you 640WS instead of 250WS at a total of $700.

The Elinchrom is cheaper, as are their accessories.
