David Cameron in full: 'No moral equivalence' between Hamas and Israel

Lord Cameron has said there is "no moral equivalence" between Hamas fighters and Israel's military, which has killed thousands of innocent civilians in Gaza.

But speaking to Sky News on a visit to Washington in his new role as foreign secretary, the former prime minister said the UK continued to tell Israel "it has to abide by international humanitarian law".

He said there was a "fundamental difference" between the two sides.

"Whereas Israel uses its defences to try and defend its people, Hamas uses its people to try and defend its rockets," he said.

Hamas officials in Gaza say Israel has killed more than 16,200 people in its retaliatory campaign, including about 7,000 children. Hamas killed around 1,200 people in the 7 October attack.

The facts so far. Israel knew Hamas were planning the attack well in advance. IDF took 6 hours to respond which is incredible considering their arms and air force. Netanyahu was not popular with most Israelis. Israel funded Hamas even encouraged them over the PLO. Just months prior The Saudis had for the first time in years started to talk with Israel and resolve their differences. What all this means, make your own mind up. There is no question this is genocide by any definition. For decades prior to October 7th Palastians have been brutally caged.
