Can a diffraction grate be used to verify a light filter?

I have many narrowband light filters I use for Astrophotography, but no way to know if they are blocking the wavelengths they are supposed to and allowing the ones they are supposed to.

Can a diffraction grate be used along with a light source to measure what is being passed and what blocked?

Or is a spectrometer or other equipment needed?

I very much love the quick and simple demonstration. You had meter sticks up for measuring but you didn't go into what the real distances were when you selected a different diffraction grating. The video isn't high enough quality that we can try and figure it out for ourselves based on the measurements as we can't really see it. This isn't a big issue though if you guide us along with what you are seeing. Perhaps explain the relationship of what we are seeing with your measurement devices.
