It won't last long. You have better odds with a scratch off at $5. Ticket sales will plummet and not to mention what will be the case with the extra option. Powerball is not doing it now because they want to see how well or how poor this will do. In fact, I bet these two entities flipped a coin behind closed doors and whoever lost had to commence the experiment and see how things will work out. If positive results, the other will follow suit. Something similar happened here in Texas with the state lotto where they redesigned the game to mimic the last ball to be the extra ball and up the price to $2. Though people was buying it out of loyalty, MM and PB was $2 too with better prize tiers. Texas Lotto lost sales and they took a big hit when the jackpot reached $145m! This only lasted 2 years and they went back to the old matrix a sold $1 tickets again with an extra option. I can only imaging MM will lower the price of their tickets to $3, with is something that would have been more acceptable in the first place!
