Being from another planet, he doesn’t exactly have any need to feel beholden to Earths military customs.
He chooses to do so anyway because he doesn’t consider himself above the human race, merely among them.

Screw all the haters! This movie was beautifully well done in almost every way. The soundtrack, the origin storyline, the acting, symbolic moments and the climax.

People didn't realize what a masterpiece this movie was when it was released. Right from Henry, to all the background score, mass destruction and especially Zod (Shannon shines there). This film is already a timeless classic. I think Nolan said somewhere that people would realize what Snyder has created here in years to come. I just dont think any other Superman film can top this one.

I remember watching this in the cinema 10 years ago - seeing Chris Reeve's face in the terraforming scene - shedding a tear, and thinking - the baton has finally been passed to a worthy successor.

When I first saw this scene, it made me cry a bit. Even after they shot at him, he still continued to protect them from the House of Zod, until he gained their trust.
