Light Tank Concept
105mm Gun
Autoloader, 5 sec reload, 24 rounds rack
Elevation -12°/15°
22 tons, 600HP
(Based on the AGS and M1128 style turrets where you can peek over a ridge without exposing crew. Here the gun is in an oscilating armored box allowing for loading in any elevation angle. Modelled in Fusion 360.)

I think "light tanks" could become largely viable here in the near future, being a 100% remotely operated vehicle. This would allow them too be incredibly small and quick, while packing a big punch.

somthing to know. modern tanks have very long shells. this shell is quite short and likely wouldnt have very good performance. and would have very slow shell velocity. impressive animation none the less!

Possibly move the ammo stowage to one side of the gun, then have it feed to the same spot so that you can put both the gunner and commander one the same side of the gun. Having the crew together would then allow more flexability in how the FCS and internal protection functions, possibly even completely seperating the breach and ammo from the crew compartment then add a blow out pannel to help with survivability.

That's the real game changer. So much firepower can face the heavy tanks in a good range or ambush strategy

Thats a nice model to start and give some details!

the reload would take way longer due to the amount of torque thats required to lift a shell like that meaning the speed of the reload will decrease i wouldnt call this design very viable since the upright shells make the ammo rack easier to hit and i guess the only advantage is its an autoloader and can reload without having to position the gun at 0 deegrees

Seems like a good autoloader that does not have to zero it's elevation to load the armament, I likes....

I was thinking about this thin but long turret design, I think the french invented it? it's very good because it's light, has a low profile and a lower frontal surface area to protect, and you can make the frontal turret armor extra thick and protected because you can spare more weight to the front because of the design's characteristics

Future tanks will be light and fast possibly unmanned, although that it will be light reactive armors and counter-measures will be deployed, and if the tank is destroyed at least there will be no casualties.

It magically converts Nato full length tank smells into russian 2 piece ammunition once ejected. That's pretty impressive

very cool we will try building this system ill let you know how it goes

Did you ever consider how the STRV103 ejects spent cases out the back as an alternative mechanism?

This assumes however that the casing stub will eject perfectly into the catcher every time, which is probably unlikely. How would the stub catching mechanism expel the casing? Using something like a pinch roller mechanism?

I feel it would be nice if it had a lock mechanism it would be more effective as if the tank needs to reload on the move it is very likely that the mechanism will fail due to movement but the The system itself is not bad but there are several problems to solve, but taking in count the system it would take about 5 seconds to reload

Tbh its not a very good gun since the ammunition is too short. The propellant charge too few the rod too short to compete.

Solution= LONGER BREECH AND AUTOLOADER JAJAJAJA

Cover everything in insanely heavy armor and put a topcage on it

Hi! Is it possibile to have this project ?

15° elevation is vert weak in modern warfare. As you're not just using them in open field but also in urban terrain.

It's a Teledyne AGS but doesn't look cool

I think autoloaders like this one is a good idea.. but itll ultimately lead up to more damage if the tank gets blown up
