The final part of Simonida Selimović's series for the House of European History explains how art is a powerful way for her to acknowledge and celebrate Roma identity...

Originally planned as part of a physical tour in the museum exhibition, but cancelled due to the pandemic, Simonida speaks from home during the lockdown period, on the fate of Roma people and their significance for Europe.

Simonida was born in Serbia and immigrated as a child together with her family to Austria, where she began her career as an actor. In 2010 she and her sister founded Romano Svato, the first feminist and professional Roma theatre association, as well as activist rap group Mindj Panther Roma Armee Fraktion.

Thanks to Eva Oskarsdottir & Stefan Ecker for the video production.
