UFC 242: Dan Hardy Breaks Down Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Dustin Poirier - MMA Fighting

The UFC 242 main event clash between champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and interim champion Dustin Poirier is almost here, and during a break at Friday’s official morning weigh-ins, Dan Hardy spoke to MMA Fighting’s Peter Carroll about the showdown.

Dan Hardy is reaching with his comments here. He's saying that if Dustin survives the first two rounds (no guarantee of that) that in the 3rd round, Khabib is suddenly going to "slow down" and Dustin will be able to pour it on.

Mate, Khabib isn't Conor McGregor or some fast-twitch heavy hitter where he blows his load early and has nothing left after that. In the Iaquinta fight, he stood in round 3, but he didn't "slow down" in terms of his output. He was working his striking, and was absolutely working Al with the lead jab and right cross, butchering his face wide open. Then later in the fight, he went right back to the takedown and there was nothing Al could do about it.

Khabib doesn’t commit 100% to every takedown, it’s to keep the opposition guessing and give them a false sense of security

Every fighter has a plan until they're taken down and ragdolled all over the octagon. Khabib is on a different level, there is no match for him until he fights Tony, Ryan hall or Gregor Gillespie.

Watching Khabibs earlier fights I noticed how he holds his chin up and open. If Dustin can catch him square on his chin he can win this. But if Khabib takes him down he is in trouble. Should be a good fight. Good luck to both fighters.

Hardy wants poirier to win soooo badly. Thinking up all these odd scenarios to make it sound more plausible and believable. In reality it's anyone's fight, there's no need to bring up ridiculous, clearly bias "what-ifs". He sounds silly and almost like he has an agenda the way he constantly makes it seem like Dustin will win if he just does X.
