Should You Buy The Lenovo Carbon Thinkpad X1

The Lenovo Carbon X1 is a Laptop that everyone has seen at some point. Is it worth it in 2020?

Please - No Design Changes needed! I have been using ThinkPads for 20 years now and all that I need is subtle evolution and refinement of the original intent! I still want mine in BLACK! I use a Trackball at home but the I would be lost without the little red pointer in the middle. The speakers are just okay, but my Bose 700 noise cancelling headphones seem to improve the audio enough for me.

I have a Gen 6 and just upgraded to the Gen 8. Super happy with the quality and never have any issues.

Thinkpads are amazing machines. They go on and on and on. They have brilliant comfortable keyboards as well.

These are sold mainly into big companies, mostly upgradable a must these days, rugged, styli sh.There are downsides thinkpads are for professional users lenovo makes the yoga range for consumers. Thinkpads have a good second hand market, due to their rugged design support and upgradabilty. The x1 may not be as upgradable as its more expensive thinkpad workstation line.But drop it, spill coffee, it should still work.The x1 is small lightweight whilst the x1 extreme and P1are productive workstations for enterprise. We look forward to Ryzen and linux machines soon.

I received my Gen 8 - 2 week ago. Mine comes with the UHD(3840x2160) IPS Glare 500nits display and it is simply astounding display. You watch a Youtube video and it's like you are there with them. The Dolby Atmos sound also is great.
Coming from my previous bulky T520. It is so thin and light. I'm so happy with my choice.

The only thing i dislike for 2020 is that huge bezels on the screen. The rest of its form factors is amazing for me.

IMO, this is the ferrari of ultrabooks! Not sure why there are so many dislikes on this video. It's a great machine and a great video.

It would be great if Lenovo also changes the aspect ratio for its business laptops (= Thinlpads) to 16:10 as Dell has done it recently for its XPS line.

had thinkpads all over the years. just want to buy a x1 carbon, but the 2020 model has only a FHD resolution on the anti-reflected display. the UHD is glossy. just ask me WHY??? ...so i have to wait to 2021?

Thinkpads also have the most efficient pointing device. Takes some training but once you get used to it there is nothing better. Ive tried MBPs and XPSs and have always came back to the trusty, reliable, and durable Thinkpad. Lenovo tried to chnage the design a while back and failed miserably. Thankfully they changed back!

best of it is that it has 4g LTE built-in, don't have to connect to my phone for connection

I had the x1 carbon gen 2 until gen 5 came out and that's still going strong, is used as daily desktop as well as has travelled extensively and in the total 6 plus years had 1 service call to replace a fan between the 2 of us (4 laptops), which was done onsite within 24 hours with their premier onsite support. Can't recommend it highly enough and keyboard is easily the best on an ultrabook I've used.

Incredible machines but admittedly I don't do any heavy graphics or rendering work etc.

Microsoft killed my laptop and takes my games away since I don't have wifi but I need to edit videos and mix music so I'm forced to get this⬆

I recommend you never buy Lenovo Thinkbook. I has very bad experience with new core i3 10gen. I bought 2 pcs. during one month. First laptop video output doesn't work. Second laptop wifi module doesn't work. Touch pad also doesn't work and they do not whant repair. I use first laptop 1 day. Second one week.
Lenovo is very bad quality laptop and very bad quality of servise, warranty. Lenovo hot line also can not help
