"We all make mistakes". Nothing more refreshing than 'warts and all' This is so much more real and personal than a perfectly edited track. Thanks Leland. Can't wait until tomorrow!

My hero and the most wonderfully real person I've come across!!!! I've been a huge fan of yours for most of my life!!! Please stay safe, and keep filling the air with music :)

No matter the execution (playing stuff like that without any warm up, relying on old memories is tough), this bass line is absulutely incredible. So perfectly fits the rest of the musicians work, accents and licks just where needed, never invasive, finishing on middle of bars, keeping tension on a note, then coming back to the basic line etc... this is playing for the music! You are a legend dude.

I love that you did not edit this - showing your "mistakes" makes this video even more worth to me. I do not play any instrument but I have always been facinated by the bass. Your daily postings ligthens (?) my day

One of the best bassists in the world, fair play for not editing out the mistakes, human after all. Keep the videos coming, brilliant!!!

It's great (in a good natured way) to see you fail. It's wonderfully human. Thank you for not editing that out.

One of my fav songs to watch/hear Phil’s entire band do. Great message too

Impeccable.. slips and all. And imagine he picked up the guitar and played all the rest for the first time in a while. He didn’t even say, practice before recording, he just turned on the camera and jumped in after months and made one mistake with a lick that seemed like a tap dancers feet on a normal day and then the rest was awesome. Beautiful

Hi Lee. Back in the 1970's when I was just learning to play bass I heard your contributions to several albums of the era and really admired what you brought to tracks - solid bass lines with attention to rhythm, phrasing and clever bits of transition. A real inspiration to a guy just starting out and I've paid attention to these things to this day. Thanks for that and I still really enjoy listening to you play so appreciate these videos so much. They're gold.

I am following along and trying to learn from you - this is better than a master class because I can watch multiple times - thanks for caring and for doing this - your honesty and good humor give me hope.

Thanks so much Leland. Everything you are saying and doing is why you're one of my bass heroes. You're as great a human as you are a bassist!

Thank you for not editing!! This is why you're my favorite bass player and I know many after 40+ years on the bass... always humble, down to earth and honest. Haven't heard anything from you yet that I wouldn't agree on 100%... Keep on rockin', Sir!

One of my all time Phil Favs!! Such a fun bass line! And thanks Leland for being candid. Even when you don't get it right, you got it right in my book! Such cool playing!! Keep up the vids!

It is so humbling to see a legend like you make mistakes and react the same way as we do. it doesn't deminish your greatness one bit. I hope to be at the same age as you are one day and still kill it. You are an idol and an inspiration. 😊

I wish I could successfully imitate even your worst mistakes, but that's never going to happen! Not even close! Thanks Lee. Love what you're doing - keep it up!
