I was there, thought I would be wowed by the campus and ambience...instead our Niu performance and CLASS completely clouded whatever Notre Dame had to show. Never more proud of being an NIU Huskie alum than I am now!! No, Notre Dame, you didn't "play bad" ....WE JUST WERE BETTER!!! Thank you Coach Hammock and team for a wonderful display of skill and integrity. GO HUSKIES!!❤

i was a junior at NIU in 2003 when we officially got on the map. we beat #15 maryland in dekalb and i didnt think it would get any better. i was wrong. this was 2nd biggest upset in NCAA football history.

This was my first NIU game and it was on my birthday. The most fun that I've ever had at a football game. 3 days later and my voice is almost back to normal. Go HUSKIES!

I do not know what quirk of fate or universal power led me to watch this game from start to finish yesterday (I don’t usually watch college football _at all_), but I was watching yesterday, and I watched a miracle unfold over the course of a couple hours. I’ve been smiling about it ever since, and I’m just some schmuck rando who happened to be watching. I can only imagine the happiness felt by the TRUE fans and supporters! Salute from a random person to the whole NIU family. 🫡

Huge IRISH fan here just stopping by to congratulate all the Northern Illinois fans here, as the team and you all deserved the win. I read all the comments and 😂it wasn't easy, but you all deserved this win. You guys out classed us in every phase of the game.( I understand the little guy winning, my Richmond Spiders won a title)Being an Irish fan isn't going to be easy or popular for awhile now 😂...it sucks...but it is what it is. All we can do is keep moving forward just as life does. Again hats off to Northern Illinois and their fans.

I was at this game (sitting with a bunch of notre dame fans as a lone NIU fan). Was jumping up and screaming after we won and fell down 2 rows (I’m alright just feeling a little sore today). I got up instantly and checked on the people nearby to make sure they were okay. I looked at my friend (she’s an Irish fan) and said “let’s go!” And started running for the exit to get down and celebrate with the team and other fans (we didn’t get down there in time unfortunately). The most excited I’ve ever been in my entire life. This is the first time I can say I was legitimately high on life! I hope everybody gets to experience this feeling because it’s the best feeling I’ve ever had in my life. Thank you Coach Hammock, NIU, and the team!!! It’s a good day to be a Huskie! This is going to be a special year! Playoff Huskies baby!!!!
