I’ve seen a lot of people talking about joining or saying they have joined and are frustrated with their progress. Hopefully this sheds a bit of light on the situation…
ATM the basic training schedule has changed completely so it has teething issues. Recruiters are just as frustrated as you are and you’ve got to remember they’re dealing with maybe 20 of you at once… instead of the old “Alpha, Bravo” setup, it is now a CMS 21(Reserve) package which consists of: A Mod 1 (weekend of basic soldiering, 24 hour clock, phonetic alphabet etc)
Mod 2: this is where things start to pick up… (7 days of basic drill, soldiering, weapon handling, field craft etc)
Mod 3: 15 day BATTLE CAMP (this is where your training is consolidated and hardened. Finishing with a 5 day exercise out in the field where you’re being pushed to test your ability to deal with your duties. Finishing with a pass off parade.
After this you are a Phase 1 trained soldier

You get a lot more kit issued than I had when I joined the TAVR in 1969. We did get two pairs of boots, but effectively one each of everything else. We did get a No. 2 uniform, which you don't get now, do you? We had the plain green Pattern 1960 combat uniform. The webbing we were issued was the Pattern 1937 set, although I didn't get a set, they had stopped issuing it just as I joined, but the army being the army they didn't issue anything in it's place. That meant when going on exercise I, and people who had joined after me, had to draw a set from stores which was usually in crap condition, leading us to receive bollockings about it's state. No, they wouldn't let me keep a set to get in good condition because they'd stopped issuing it, hadn't they? We were eventually issued the Pattern 58 webbing and DPM combats. I quite miss those days.

What I realised is it’s cheaper to have you store a ton load of stuff in your room/house, then build a warehouse for it all to go in. CBRN no longer a thing for some reason but you need to keep storing your respirator.

I've only just remembered that I subscribed to your channel. I'm also joining the reserves. I'm just waiting to do my DBS, then I can get attested.

Got issued all mine and have only brought it home to stitch some patches on it, turn around from end of selection to attesting was 2 weeks, then another 2 weeks (ish) to get kit issued. Courses booked and are pretty close (beginning of April)

I'm also happy to answer any Qs

Nice, I tried to join years back but Crapitah had other ideas, they lost my application along with thousands of others for 14 months when all I had left to pass was the induction weekend. Whats the pay like these days and how's it all work since covid? Thinking of giving it another go if I can find time to get my fitness up.

Why use the cs95 style shirt for drill and not just use all of the new pcs style shirts?
Or why not use the 95 shirts for combat as there’s so stupid Velcro making noise
