Eden Gebre Egziabher is the owner and operator of Makina Cafe, New York’s only Ethiopian and Eritrean food truck. These days, due to the Coronavirus, Eden’s profits have dwindled and her job description has changed drastically. Her trucks are off the street, but Eden is determined to keep her business alive. In this Coronavirus update of Street Food Icons, Eden takes us with her as she cooks and delivers food to frontline healthcare workers in Queens, which is one of many ways she has pivoted her business since New York became the epicenter of the global pandemic.

Was watching this at work. I'm a nurse and also had to deal with the COVID pandemic. All I can say is that is people like you that keep us going. That appreciation does so much for us. Thank you and hope your business is thriving. ❤

Thank you so much for everything you do, me and my team out of Harborview in Seattle we're working in NYC at Lennox Hill hospital a few weeks ago and you provided food to the entire office, first time we ever had Ethiopian food and it was a hit, super delicious! Will never forget your hospitality 🙏

I have followed your journey here on you tube and I think you do a excellent job. I just want to say thank you for all that your company has done during the pandemic. I live upstate NY and we were hit pretty good with this at my job, I work at a trauma hospital and even though I'm not a nurse, the hospital works hard for what ever it is that they do. I'm so thankful for people like you who feed us during this time were still going through, my job never closes and I had work during this time and even caught the virus while working, it was a struggle but I pulled through. I just want to thank you guy's for all you do, Please stay safe and keep us updated on your journey.
