The United States is one of the largest food markets in the world. The US accounts for a third to a half of world consumption in many product categories. Entering the US with food products requires following the requirements of the US, mandates, laws and various regulations.

One of the most important aspects of your product will be the food label. It is mandated by Federal and State laws to ensure accurate representation of the food product. It will include a written declaration of information for the US consumer in English.

There are many areas to review and prepare prior to bringing food to the United States. The three primary food laws that regulate product labeling include:

• Food Drug and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA)
• Fair Packaging and Labeling Act (FPLA)
• Public Health Service Act (PHS)

This video is part 1 of 3 series of video on How to Import Food Products into the USA. If you are a food owner who would need help on the process prior to shipping your food product to a US port, then this video is for you.

I want to import cubanelle peppers or tabasco peppers, peppers in general from the Dominican republic. Apart from getting all this done, asuming i'll get it imported into the US, selling the product is another deal, is there a way to guarentee a sale? Someone who would just buy all my product per say? I have tons and tons of acres of land and an uncle who's a professional agriculturist/farmer who can approve the cleaness of the produce! What can i do?

Hi Tim, thanks for the enlightenment, I have a different case but still related to food that I am shipping from Africa. Would it be possible if we could connect and discuss it more in-depth about it?

Hi Tim,

First time listener and subscribed to your channel

I am planning to import snacks from India. What is the general turn around time to get FDA approval.

Do you have any recommendations for the freight services who does the custom clearance and deliver it to my home for distribution

What are the regulations around using FedEx or DHL while I am getting the FDA approval ( can I import snacks for personal use while the approval is pending?)
