In the 1994 version you can see the excitement in rafiki when he realises the now intolerable reign of scar is ending as simba returns, but i have to say they nailed the soundtrack

Remember in the original when he learns Simba is alive and he goes from shocked to excited in like 1.2 seconds. He’s laughing and is so energetic. I’m so glad they just asked the actor to read his lines and not add anything new at all.

These new versions of Disney movies make me appreciate the old ones so much more.

1:40, I love how he's talking to Mufasa, even in death he still talks to his brother

You really have to admire how they did this sequence. The hair went through a whole journey instead of just ride on a long gust of wind.

Rafiki the wise mandrill knows Simba the lion was alive. Not only that, he also knew that Simba was a full grown lion and time to take his father's place🦁🔥

Cartoon: “He’s ALIVE!?” *overwhelmed/ relieved eccentric laughter*

He knew that fur belonged to Simba just by feeling it, not even smelling it

Aren’t you so glad the scene where Rafiki tells Simba “The past can hurt, but the way I see it you can either run from it, or learn from it!” was cut in favor to make room to show us a scene of Simba’s fur being rolled around in literal shit by a dung beetle? So much of an improvement! *sarcasm

1:40 I like to think that John Kami is thanking Med Hondo. Rest in Peace our Rafiki, John did an amazing job playing Rafiki

I'm glad I saw the remake. Because it made me want to watch the original. So I did.

Just doesn't have the same energy as the original. In that one you can feel the excitement in Rafiki's voice, you can see the happiness in his eyes and hear the wild joy in his laughter of knowing that Simba is alive.
This one he's more like "oh shit, that's awesome, cool."

What’s funny is that just before this scene, Timon and Pumbaa just discussed to Simba the impossibility of a “Circle of Life” existing. This just shows how everything’s connected.

I don’t think this will ever top the original, but I love how this scene (along with a few others) differentiates this film with the classic.
