Right-wing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones was held accountable for lying about children massacred at Sandy Hook and inflicting emotional distress on the families of the victims in a powerful verdict that awarded $965 million to the impacted families. This decision comes after a Texas court ordered him to pay $45 million in August and potentially sets an unnerving precedent for Fox News, which is currently facing a lawsuit for alleged election lies.

Re: "Money won't bring your child back." I used to work for an injury attorney. When a client gets injured by somebody else's stupid or greedy behavior, it is a comfort to win a lawsuit. The money says "Your suffering was real and your case is legitimate. Society recognizes your right to compensation." We may not think about it much, but society's validation means a lot to us.

Jones is a despicable, evil man and deserves everything he gets. For him to claim 'I'm broke' to try to avoid accountability is disgusting and I hope the law finds a way to neutralize his efforts.

People and companies being held accountable is just the very best news I got today!

It’s unimaginable to lose a child in the manner those parents did. It’s incomprehensible that anyone would be so callous and cruel as to then psychologically torture them. I wish he could be imprisoned.

Justice moves like a glacier but finally caught up with Alex Jones.

His lies diminished these children repeatedly to the sick segment of people who believed and supported him!!! These were little children and he victimized them and their Families. God Bless that jury. This is a message about lying that can't be ignored!!!

Can you imagine losing your child, grandchild, brother, sister in such an atrocity, then having some theorist spouting lies and hate towards you and laughing. Jones is a low life and should be locked up forever along with all of those who tormented these families. My heart goes out to all who lost their loved ones.

I think they should sue the people who work with him. They knew and were a part of this and made money off it. Sue them all, cameraman, sound guys, producers, everyone. Then let's see if he can get people to help him with his bull.

The fine is not enough for Alex Jones, they need to criminally charge him for attempting to hide his assets from this verdict.

Jones himself has sued for defamation in the past. The amount is so high because he would not learn when to shut up during the case, even urging the jury to do their own outside research, something they are absolutely not allowed to do. Given what he did to the families, the amount was always going to be large, but his conduct during the case must have really annoyed the jury

Jones really thought he could get away with an "oops sorry about that" and merrily go on with his life

I Hope so with all my heart. To each family I wish they know how much we think of them and all the other families who have suffered. Sending ❤❤❤❤

They know they will probably never see that money but hopefully Alex won’t see any money again in his lifetime! I think that is what the parents really wanted anyway. Very sad and disgusting that people still support him!

How Jones can't be embarrassed as a human is amazing. I guess many are an extremely low level life forms. Money and bluster is everything. Is being on the top really nirvana? Is one person's glory worth the pain so many must experience

A person HAS to be held accountable for their words just as they are for their actions.

I’m glad there have been some meaningful consequences for his despicable actions. I still cannot fathom that anyone could have treated these parents with such cruelty. What a horrible man.
