Skyney (Skylanders parodying Disney) - Day 35. Hercules

Like Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules is another film that has divided its audience. Some love the movie for its animation, songs and performances by actors like Danny DeVito and James Woods, while others dislike the movie for how it was 90% inaccurate to the original Greek myths. Heck, many folks from Greece actually despised what Disney did to their mythical hero, saying it was "another case of foreigners distorting Greek history and culture just to suit their commercial interests". Like I said before, despite me actually liking this movie, I had to shut up about it while I was in Greece back in 2018 just in case anyone there still has vendetta against Disney for that. You have a better chance finding someone in Norway who actually likes Marvel's depiction of Thor.

It's pretty obvious that Lightning Rod is based on Zeus, which is why it's an easy win for me during casting. I couldn't find a good suitor for Hercules, so instead I had Stormblade playing Athena, the Goddess of Wisdom. She's of the few Greek gods I'm super familiar with due to actually being in a city named after her, Athens. Who's the owl? Here's a hint: HOOT HOOT!

Hercules was actually the first ever movie I remember seeing in theaters (or at least the earliest), so I never had any grief about it.

Also, Hades is not evil, he’s actually a pretty neutral god. It is true that he doesn’t a good relationship with his brother Zeus, but he respects him regardless.

Don't know what to say about the inaccuracies parts. I can say that when I was a kid the scene when Hercules accidentally dystoryed the market I actually dyed laughing probably the people's facial reactions when they were fleeing.

Should have seen that coming for Lightning Rod. Also, Zeus' wife Hera, is supposed to be his sister as well as his wife in mythology, making her a sister to Hades and Poseidon too. Don't know why people change up a lot of the original canon from books to better suit the modern age.

I find it very funny how an animator that makes frequent se× jokes about female skylanders is joking about Zeus being a creep /lh
