This is a collaborative project with Tea Research Institute of Sri Lanka
Tea withering is the first and most important unit operation in tea factory. It has direct impact to the quality of made tea. It consumes about 49%-61% form total electrical energy usage of factory. With proper automation 40% saving can be achieved (Daranagama, et 2002). Objective of this project to develop a control system for withering for minimizing the electrical energy while preserving the quality of tea leaves. Initial proof of concept is done by TRI and we A & T Labs developed the solution as a commercial product.
