There are some lyric changes in “Kiss the Girl” because people have gotten very sensitive about the idea that [Prince Eric] would, in any way, force himself on [Ariel]. We have some revisions in “Poor Unfortunate Souls” regarding lines that might make young girls somehow feel that they shouldn't speak out of turn, even though Ursula is clearly manipulating Ariel to give up her voice. I just saw the movie and was looking for video of Alan Menken and Lin-Manuel Miranda discussing the new songs. Thanks for posting this - do you know where I can find the rest of this? The only thing I can find from Entertainment Weekly is a Zoom interview, and not the both of them at the piano like this.
