if youre wondering why he 'destroyed' the previous piece to make this one, he seems to be using oil based clay, which doesnt harden and is meant to be reused like this! a cast was (likely) made of the previous sculpture so its not lost & the raw material can be used to make something else
edit: oopsie! based on a comment he replied to out he uses WED clay, isnt oil based- its water based. But it is still formulated to dry very very slowly and can be reused too ^_^
