How to Play Hyperborea

In this episode, I teach you how to play Hyperborea, an excellent game of civilization-building, exploration and conquest, designed by Andrea Chiarvesio and Pierluca Zizzi and published by Asmodee. A couple of my friends have compared this game to Mage Knight, which is probably one of my top 3 games, and it is similar in some ways, but Hyperborea is much simpler to learn, much faster to play (you can play a two-player game in less than an hour) and it’s much more directly competitive. I think that over time Hyperborea might even REPLACE Mage Knight when I want to play a game like this. But only time will tell. :)

As I've done in previous videos, I start with a brief overview of the gameplay, explaining the object of the game, and then I move into the mechanics of the game, covering the rules step by step. Using this approach, it’s my goal that you should be able to put the game on your table and start playing right after you watch my video, only using the rulebook for occasional reference. The conditions to end the game do not necessarily have to be triggered by the same player. For example, In a regular game, the end-of-game conditions to be fulfilled
must be 2 out of the possible three. They can be fulfilled by the same player or by two or more different players (the last sentence was lifted from the rulebook).

The FAQ also disallows cubes to remain on a player's board unless the cubes are on an "infinity" space on the technology...in addition only one set of the base technology can be used..once there is a cube on it the other set CANNOT even have a cube placed on it.
