The Public Service is stepping up efforts to attract more mid-career professionals. A new initiative will also train them to take on top roles, and it comes with support such as mentors and stints in various agencies. Minister-in-charge of the Public Service Chan Chun Sing said this will better prepare the organisation for the future.

The government might wish to consider means testing for scholarship applications/awards because scholarships are meant to nurture talents that could potentially benefit the country. They are not a trophy for showing off. Those with means are able to send their children anywhere without the need for public funding and excluding this group will free up funds to help the less privileged who might have similar potential if they were blessed with more affluent parents.

This might help us to find more talents from all walks of life, level the playing field and improve 'class' diversity in our public service which in turn will be more in touch with citizens at all levels of society.

Private Mid-career professional should go in as trainers to train the public servants to make them more Productive and effective. Instead of bringing them in to be train by public servants who don't know what KPIs and no SOP.
